'Arts and Crafts churches of Great Britain - Architects, craftsmen and patrons'

The Arts and Crafts movement is best known for its influence on domestic architecture and decoration. However, many of the leading personalities were also commissioned to design or decorate churches. This illustrated book, by Oldie reader Roger Button, is the first to examine these revolutionary buildings as a group, and assess their impact on subsequent architectural history. George Truefitt wrote that no one would expect a painter to produce a copy of an Old Master for the Royal Academy exhibition, so why should it be acceptable for architects to produce copies of medieval churches? The Gothic Revival was swept away. The Arts and Crafts men and women and their successors took over.
